On February 27th, 2019, the ERuDef Centre For The Advancement of Women’s Initiatives (CAWI) was once more in GHS BUEA Town, a year after their first visit of donation of school requirements in 2018. This time around, the purpose of the visit was to organize an Art Competition, directed and funded by the SALOME Company, a UK based partner of ERuDeF.
Following instructions from the funder, the competition was opened only to female students because the main objective of CAWI, which squarely allies with that of SALOME, is to uplift the status of the female folk in the society. In this regards, 19 female students of GHS BUEA TOWN contested and were expected to draw the Equatorial Rain Forest representing its biodiversity and ecosystem.

At the end of the exercise, the artistic works were evaluated by the UK based company and the following were declared winners: 1st Chin Claudia Dinyuy (Lower Sixth Arts), 2nd Magaret Namondo Ikome ( Form 4C), 3rd Mabele Abangma Britney Mator (Form 5A) The winner of the first prize bags home the equivalence of 500 pounds in francs CFA. , the second 250 pounds, and the third 100 pounds.

It should be mentioned that this money is exclusively meant and must be used strictly for the provision of educational needs of these children. A team from CAWI shall monitor the use of these prizes to ensure that they are destined to support uniquely the academic objectives in the forthcoming academic year 2019/2020. Parents were encouraged to keep all receipts of expenditure.
The Prize Award Ceremony took place on May 8th, 2019 in an atmosphere of euphoria and excitement, exhibited by both the beneficiaries and their parents. All contestants were issued certificates of participation and an Art Kit from SALOME Company to further their artwork in addition to a packet of color pencils and erasers given by ERuDeF.
