This day is commemorated to acknowledge the suffering children, victims of physical, emotional and mental violence and to gather resources to securing a brighter future for them. Children are among the most vulnerable group in the society especially where there are conflicts and wars.

The Cameroon Anglophone crisis which started since October 2016, in the North West and South West (NWSW) regions of Cameroon have brought a lot on a standstill by strikes and protests. It has affected an estimate of 1,033,000 children, recorded more than 1000 innocent children killed and many other consequences. This number keeps increasing every day as the crisis continues. One of the most devasting consequences of this strike has been the shutdown of schools forcing children to a lot of promiscuity, violence, child soldiers, crime and cyber scamming etc. many children during this period have been abducted, forced to join camps, acts like spies and errands boys and girls, sex slaves, force to early marriages, sexually abused and serve as cooks in camps.
